What’s the deal with Flash Games!?
Sometimes I get really bored, just sitting around doing nothing, sort of tired with any games on my computer, and I want to find something that’s exciting and new. So, I will go and look up something like “online games” or “flash games” etc, at that point you are given a list of games and you can decide to go to one of those ‘massively multi-player online role playing games’ which I loath.. (we can get to that later). The other option is to choose a site cram packed with these smaller games that can entertain anywhere from 5 minutes to a couple of hours (usually 5 minutes). Now the sites I usually find are ones such as Armor Games or Addicting Games. now these sites are probably the two best flash game sites on the Internet.
The thing about these sites, is that they will show you between 30 and 100 games right off the bat, and you can go simply click on one and expect to waste a few minutes, but the quality of game can either be Great, Alright, Or Extremely Horrible. the chances are usually about 20% 20% and 60%. I mean I understand that there are different levels of entertainment for different people (like how teenagers don’t want to play games with Big Bird in them). However, A game that says its ‘intense’ either by the thumbnail given to it or name the developer chose for it, should be there because the game actually is ‘intense’. The grade of Flash games being created now is so far below what it should be. For example: 12 Towers now this game sounds pretty sweet, something like LotR (Lord of the Rings) or a good defense game. I mean the thumbnail they gave the game has a savage looking skeleton with a sword, by all means this game has the introduction of a game that should be labeled at least alright. But if you ever play that game you will know what I mean, it was poorly designed, for anyone who knows Flash, its easy difficulty is far to extreme, and the options given to the game are skimpy, if that.
I remember as a kid, I would have no choice but to play flash games if I wanted to play a video game, and those games were great for their time. I remember being mesmerized by the deep story lines, and the well structured design for character advancement, or for story achievements. Developer’s are making games as fast as possible for a quick cash grab, and that is extremely disappointing.
Now, I am not a big flash game nerd, (just middle of the road :P) and I stand by my other posts about not gaming too much, but in my last remarks of this post I will say that flash games are still a great source of enjoyment, and there are still a few good developers out there, I will probably continue to play flash games.. Some of them are fairly addictive though, so watch it, because they will addict you and then you reach the end and that’s it.
I think that you are very insightful. You should have chosen a topic you are more passionate about though.
